Driving to our next location we went
through this little town called Helen, Georgia. It is a cute little town and we
can't wait to go back. The state park itself is beautiful. You go to the
visitor center and check-in. When you find it :-) it's buried back in the
campground. They also do things a little differently there, since they don't
assign you to a specific spot, you go to the color site you paid for. It was a
little tricky maneuvering the trailer through the winding streets, but Kevin
did it great!
We scored a beautiful spot. I bought
a buddy site, which means, normally you have two trailers on the site. I really
just wanted more room since we were having some friends over that evening for
dinner. We had a nice big area for plenty of chairs around the fire pit (that
we actually got to light). We got to roast marshmallows and just talk. It was
so nice to catch up with them, wish they all could have come, but next time! It
was so pretty there we wish we would have stayed longer. But, we will be back!
They have many hiking trails there
that we didn't get to do and really wanted to. They have one trail that leads
to the little town of Helen, so we will be using that trail when we walk down
for Oktoberfest! We did head out early the next morning to hit Anna Ruby Falls.
It was beautiful there as well and Hope cried when we had to go back to the
truck. The gift shop was nice and we picked up a couple of things too!
