Our First Boondocking Experience

We had plans to stay at a nice winery as part of our Harvest Host membership. I called, they had spots, we were driving there the next day. South Georgia. It was HOT. We arrived around 2pm on Sunday, August 13th. I walked into the winery, they told me where to park, we got this. No problem, we will be back in to try the wines once we get the kids set up in the RV.

We leveled, we needed gas for the generator, we un-leveled and unhooked the truck. Kevin left with Sean and the dog for the gas station. They came back, we took out the generator, filled it with gas and it wouldn't start. Kevin and Sean tried for almost 2 hours. It was 98 degrees inside the RV. I looked on Google maps, found a KOA, called them, told Kevin and Sean to pack up we're leaving.

After we got everything packed up, the kids in the truck, Kevin and I walked inside to talk to our wonderful hosts. We sampled wine and bought some as a thank you (even though it didn't work out) and we were on our way. Fifteen minutes down the street and we had full hookups, more importantly, we had air! It took 2 hours to bring the temp down to 78 degrees. By the time we all went to bed, it was cool enough to sleep. It was a little different with the sleeping arrangements since it was such a quick stop. Sean was on the living room floor next to our fold out couch and next to the bikes. Diesel slept in the kitchen and the kids' slide we didn't even bother opening, so it was tight to sleep back there. And we were on our way the next morning!
