Beech Fork State Park, WV

This park is really pretty, beautiful lake views and direct lake access from our site. We had site 67, one of the few for reservations only. The park is separated into four sections: full hookups, tent no electric, 30 amp electric only and the rest of the park that you cannot make reservations for are electric only as well.

The sunrises were gorgeous, as well as the sunsets. We stayed at this park during a full moon which made it even more beautiful at night with it reflecting off of the water. They have multiple playgrounds for the kids to choose from. The park was really busy over the weekend we arrived, but come Sunday at noon, we were the only ones left in the reservation area for electric only. Even the camp host was gone! The bath houses are nice and since they are empty, they are even nicer.

The weather was hot! 91 degrees during the day, which means the inside of the RV is 81. With 4 kids and 2 big dogs it gets really tight when it’s that hot. So, we spend time outside in the shade hoping for a lake breeze! By evening time the bugs are so bad, we can’t sit outside. I have to find something to help with the bugs when we don’t have our gazebo up. I see all these people sitting outside and I wonder if the bugs just leave them alone?

The park employees are not the nicest we’ve seen. They know you’re behind them and just stop in the middle of the street and get out of their car, and then don’t acknowledge you at all or say just a minute. You also have to stop each time you drive into the park, put your window down and tell them you are going to your campsite. They then proceed to ask if you have a site, we say yes and they say have a nice day.

We took the kids paddle boarding on the lake and passed our first snake swimming on the water. Thank goodness there aren’t any alligators, but there are plenty of ducks and geese!

We took time at this park to do the maintenance on the truck. It needed an oil change, fuel filter change (we have 2) and it needed a top off of fluids. It also needed a cleaning from the mud at the last place. We had a lot of work ahead of us for sure. I do have to say, it was the easiest oil change that I’ve ever had done! I got to sit in the air conditioning and make a pie. Kevin and Sean did a great job with all of the maintenance.
